Tod Bolsinger, Senior Pastor
Tod came to San Clemente Presbyterian in 1997 after serving for ten years at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. He earned a Master of Divinity and Ph.D. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary, and teaches as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Practical Theology for Fuller Seminary. Tod has been married to Beth since 1989. Beth is a marriage and family counselor in private practice. They have two children, Brooks and Alison, a Labrador named Scout, and a cat (who thinks he's a dog) named Mad Max. Tod loves hanging out with Beth, playing with his kids, barbecuing meat and rooting for the Angels. He reads avidly, races triathlons slowly, skis enthusiastically, fishes occasionally, surfs badly, and golfs never. Tod is the author of two books, It Takes a Church to Raise a Christian and Showtime: Living Down Hypocrisy By Living Out the Faith.
David Chavez, Executive Director of Mission and Hispanic Ministries
A native of Southern California, David came to San Clemente Presbyterian Church after having completed a year-long pastoral internship in Columbus, Ohio. He earned a Master of Divinity degree and Master of Theology (Philosophy and Theology Concentration) from Princeton Theological Seminary. David serves as the Executive Director of Missions and Hispanic Ministry. He is married to Renee Coffman-Chavez and is father to the most adorable baby boy in the whole universe named Ian David Chavez. David enjoys reading Russian and British literature, long walks along the beach with Renee and Ian, hanging at local cafés, and listening to Brahms (especially Symphony no. 4 Tragic Overture).
Garrett Erickson, Executive Director (Associate Pastor) of Community Life & Outreach
Born and raised in Southern California, Garrett graduated from Point Loma Nazarene College in 1995 with a B.A. in Theology and Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in 2004. He is married to Abbie and together have the sweetest baby girl in the entire universe, Cambria Sloan Erickson. Garrett’s rich history in the area excites him to do the ministry he is called to do here. He prefers the poetry/lyricism of Greg Graffin and the music of Neil Diamond. He enjoys the many facets of the ocean, backpacking, fishing, snow sports and above all is a rabid Anaheim Angels fan!
Dee Hazen, Associate Pastor of Caring Ministries
Dee received her Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. She came on staff at San Clemente Presbyterian August of 1998 where she serves as an Associate Pastor in the area of Community Care. Dee also holds a degree in Nursing. She has served on the staffs of Laguna Presbyterian Church and Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church. She is married to John Hazen who retired after 40 years as an M.D. Dee and John have four grown children and have three grandchildren.
Don Nieman, Executive Director of Worship Ministries
Don grew up in a musical family and has always been very involved in the church. After studying music at California State University Northridge he pursued a career in music, but it wasn’t long before he felt God calling him to ministry. He started working in music ministry in 1990 and he married his wife Wendy in 1995 after meeting her in a Christmas choir at their former church. In 1998 Don joined our staff as the Director of Production leading worship and providing programming and technical direction to our events and services. In 2002 Don became our Executive Director of Worship overseeing all aspects of our worship life here at SCPC. Aside from singing and worshiping God, spending time with his wife, daughter Kira and son Joshua, bring him the most joy in life. Cooking, being with friends and playing drums are close runner-ups though. Presently Don and Wendy reside in San Juan Capistrano.
Shawn Reilly, Executive Director of Administration & Stewardship
Shawn came to San Clemente Presbyterian in June of 2002 after working in Corporate America for 15 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Southern California Business School with a minor in Marketing in 1988. Shawn met his wife (Cindy) at USC and married in 1990. Cindy works for an Australian Vintner. They both like to cook and entertain. They have three children, Shannon, Kelly and Keegan. Shawn likes fly fishing with friends and family, riding his road bike along the coast, Trojan football games and listening to U2. Shawn manages the Church administration and stewardship programs. Shawn enjoys leading a Friday morning Men's Devotion and Prayer group. Shawn is responsible for our Serve Ministries at SCPC.
Jim Toole, Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Family Ministries
Jim has been involved in some form of Ministry for nearly 20 years. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological and served as Director of Student Ministries at First Presbyterian Santa Barbara before joining us in 2000. He has a passion for helping the whole family develop together as and live earnest spiritual lives. He is married to the Rev. Pati Toole. They have two sons named Jake and Conor. Their hobbies include surfing, writing, adventure traveling and anything to do with the beauty of the outdoors.
Pati Toole, Associate Pastor of Mission & Outreach
Pati Toole graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary. She was recently ordained and now serves as SCPC's Associate Pastor of Mission & Outreach. Pati's passion for global and local missions began in high school and she feels priviledged to serve in this capacity at SCPC. She is married to the Rev. Jim Toole and has two boys, Jake and Conor. She loves the outdoors and a good day is playing at the beach with her family.
